We had an awesome time in Kids Church! We did a little review of what’s been happening in the story of Nehemiah. Remember, you can always read all about it in the book named after Nehemiah in the Bible! “The Bible says that the people in Jerusalem worked together to rebuild the walls. YEAH!! Finally it is done!! “Do you know how long it took them to rebuild the wall? What do you think it took a few months? A whole year? No! The people rebuilt the wall in ONLY 52 DAYS! That’s less than two months. How amazing is that? And you know what? Everyone knew there was no way they could have done such an amazing, miraculous task without the help of God! When you’ve done what YOU can do, trust God to do what He can do.
When the job was done, a man named Ezra stood up before the people and he brought God’s Word with him. It wasn’t a Bible like we have today - but God’s Word written on scrolls of paper. Ezra gathered all the men, women, and kids together and began to read God’s Word. He Read the following scriptures (as did we today)!
- Psalm 9:1 "Lord, I will praise you with all my heart. I will tell about all of the miracles you have done"
- Psalm 68:19: “Give praise to the Lord. Give praise to God our Savior. He carries our heavy loads day after day"
- Psalm 28:7: “The Lord gives me strength. He is like a shield that keeps me safe. My heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart jumps for joy. I will sing and give thanks to him"
Well, after the people listened to God’s Word, they couldn’t wait to praise Him. They knew there was no way on earth they could have built the wall by themselves. They understood that when you’ve done what YOU can do, trust God to do what He can do. So the people had a huge celebration, praising God with all the gratitude and joy in their hearts!
After listening to the story the kids drew a picture of Nehemiah or another person from the city of Jerusalem then each child was able to hold their picture up and each give a praise report of what they thought the people would be saying when giving praise to God! What a celebration!
We also wanted to celebrate what God had done for them...... but someone was missing . . . . who was that? KERWIN our krazy kat!! but then we found that he had left little clues for us to find him ..... so we went on a little adventure all over our campus to try and find him . . . our clues lead us right back to our little chapel where we learn and worship and praise our God! When the kids walked back in . . . our chapel had been transformed with bright colored balloons and and cupcakes and juice and Kerwin was right there in the middle of it all with two bags of kisses to give to each kid!! We had an awesome time of celebration!
And another cool thing, we had a new kid come and he plays the keyboard, and he played a song he wrote during our offering time!! It was awesome!! We were soo glad you came Roly!!
Parents if you have not been receiving emails from us, then please make sure to print it on sign up sheet as you mark your child present each week. or call the church office and give it to our secretary! That way you can be reminded of events that may be upcoming.
