Today in Kids Church, we heard about another EPIC adventure . . . about another time His disciples were in their boat on the water as he was spending some time in prayer ... Im sure they were talking about all of the adventures and miracles they had just experienced. But then a storm arose and the waves and wind began to pound on the boat and they were really afraid. Then all of a sudden they saw a figure walking on the water! They were really afraid, (they could have thought that it was a ghost coming to get them!) But the figure called out to them ... (you can read it in Matt 14:27-30) "TAKE COURAGE! IT IS I. DON'T BE AFRAID." The voice sounded like Jesus! and then listen to what Peter said next .... He said LORD, IF IT'S YOU .... TELL ME TO COME TO YOU ON THE WATER." And the figure said "COME."
So then Peter stepped slowly onto the edge of the boat and took a step onto the choppy sea. Peter put one foot over the boats edge and he stepped out onto the water! Peter KNEW it was Jesus! And if Jesus told him to take that step he wasn't going to let the stormy waves stop him! Peter had the epic trust to believe that no matter how scary the situation, if Jesus said it, he was going to do it! WOW!! I guess there is really no way to go on an EPIC ADVENTURE if you don't risk something or try something new, is there?
The bottom line is that just like the disciples, we KNOW we can DEPEND on God because He is bigger than our fears! It is really a matter of perspective and what we choose to focus on! Sometimes when we look at the things going on around us - they actually become bigger in our minds! So we need to remember that: WE CAN TRUST GOD NO MATTER WHAT!!
Today during our lesson we had the kids tell us what they were trusting God with ..... we had a lot of different answers .... some were .... school, parents, my health, our money, our home, my friends, my tests, the mean kids, my fears, my grandparents, my family, etc, etc . . . . .
So my question is : What do you need to trust God with? You know God loves you and He wants you to TRUST in Him to help you in whatever situations you face each day!
Memory Verse: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your should and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment! Matthew 22:37-38
ENJOY THE PICS BELOW, you will see some of our activities today, as they went through a challenging obstacle course - but as they stayed "focused"they completed the course!
